I can’t speak for everyone, but for me, don’t worry about it going long! I personally love the nitty gritty and love hearing the details and side stories. Also, appreciate you sharing all this with us. I came to know of you maybe later than others on here, first saw you in the elementality video around when I started skating in 2006, but to 12-13 year old Derrick your unique style with the street plants and boneless stuff was mind blowing. Thanks for doing all this, and looking forward to more! Also stoked you moved to Iowa. I’m over in the Quad Cities!

Thanks, Derrick. I'm not worried about going long—I'm worried about it being engaging. I felt like this first episode was a bit rough—I know, I just need to relax and let the stories flow. I'm hoping to improve week by week. Thanks for tuning in, and for your support, it's truly appreciated.

its great to listen, get to know a bit better through personal stories and have an opportunity to interact even the slightest bit with people like yourself, who have shaped this culture reaching us in Greece from the other side of the globe. Back then, we were 5-10 years behind everything and had to be impressed and put down by some of our local damasses, who thought they were somebodies. You shall win some, lose some i suppose so enjoy your new 'ride' Sir and thanks for sharing and being yourself.

I think they played the skate escape video on cable on constant repeat, and my friend and I would always watch it. So cool hearing all the back stories! Looking forward to more!

This is great, thank you for doing this! I was a small town Iowa skater in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s (Glenwood/Council Bluffs). Your parts in “Speed Freaks” and “Public Domain” were beyond influential to me and my friends—those parts taught us how to see our surroundings differently and make the most of the landscape around us. Small town Iowa life was hard on skaters back in those days; we all had targets on our backs. To see you living there now means a lot, and it feels great. Looking forward to next week’s episode!

Thanks, Chad. Yep, growing up skating in the late 80s in Iowa, New Jersey, or Hamburg, Germany was to run the gauntlet. But man, didn't it also magnify life in such a profound way? We were all pioneers in that sense—I wouldn't trade it for anything. Thanks for your support, and for tuning in. See you next week.
