Dragons TV Show Pilot Released Online.
This past May Mike V completed work on the pilot episode of the television show, DRAGONS and it is now available to view online. (View it below.)
In DRAGONS Mike V plays skate hippie, pirate guru Eric Ron who Mike describes as “A mix between Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jeff Spicoli and Conan’s father.” In DRAGONS, Eric Ron’s proteges Bruce Walker and Vince Stone, inspired by their mentor, have set out on a mission to gain freedom by conquering different levels of enlightenment in unorthodox and goofy ways. Their quest eventually leads them to the top of Mountain Lion Mountain where once there, they plan to skate down it, turn into balls of fire and fly away as DRAGONS.

Suburban Diners: Revisited.
We haven’t done a “Revisited” in awhile. Here is Mike’s video part from the 1994 Powell Skateboards video, “Suburban Diners.” I’ve been wanting to get this video part online for awhile now and that day has finally come. Check out Mike’s comments below and enjoy the video…

“In 1994 I was dead broke living in my parents home in South River, New Jersey with my wife and baby daughter. All signs pointed to the fact that I should probably give up the idea of being or trying to be a pro skater anymore and get a “real job.” But my only escape from the cold shoulder the skate world was giving me was simply going out and skating and my skating in turn gave me the confidence in myself to stay in the fight.”
“I filmed this video part on both coasts. Jason Lee shot some of it for me as well as Jason Rothmeyer and Daryl Grogan. A lot of the random Super 8 footage was shot by me. I also edited this part and chose the Husker Du song.”
“Going to Japan with Steve Caballero was a great honor. By ’94 both Stevie and I were treading water as pros at that time and I think we really got a lot out of going through it together. We knew skating was bigger and better than what it had become and we were determined to continue to stay active and help it grow despite the odds and despite what others thought of us or of Powell Skateboards.”
“To this day, George Powell has been the best manufacturer I’ve worked with in the skate industry. In the end we disagreed on some things which lead to my leaving the company in ’98 but he was always fair and he gave me incredible room and freedom to be myself and he always believed in me when most others had written me off. I took that confidence and its energy and turned it into the rest of my career. This video was the beginning of a rebirth for Powell, for Cab and for myself. It was a hard and intense but fun time.”
“I’ll put it on record and the video proves it: In ’94 I had one of the best, if not the best kickflip in the business.”

Mike V Comments On Canton, Ohio Tour Stop Cancelation.
“The folks at Evolution Skatepark in Canton, Ohio have unfortunately pulled a last minute cancelation of our scheduled tour stop there. This is a real bum out and my apologies go out to all the locals and people who were planning on coming out to see us ride. Things happen but this park has unfortunately shown a real lack of professionalism and tact in canceling this demo. We have a basic “rider” for our tour stops that we ask the parks to fulfill for us. These are basic food items, supplies and beverages that a tour bus filled with 12 people needs and uses every single day. This is standard operating procedure for touring acts and this has been a part of our agreement with all the parks since day one with booking this tour. We are not making ludicrous or extreme demands, we just ask to be fed and for our working crew to be accommodated properly, very simple stuff. That the people at Evolution can’t understand this and have gone so far as to call it “not skateboarding” is ridiculous. We were coming there to put on a show, to stoke and inspire the locals and to support THEIR skate scene like no tour has ever done before. This tour is definitely a tour of firsts and is being done differently than any skateboard tour before but for the better. You can ask every park and every skater we have encountered thus far… IT’S WORTH IT! For Evolution to cancel like this and blame our much needed and quite reasonable daily food needs as the reason to cancel really shows a lack of professionalism. GLORY BOUND rolls on regardless… Time for a road trip to Columbus.”
