Skate Daze.

Skate missions with Mike have been going down on the regular lately. I’ve been lucky enough to get to tag along once again, so I present to you a few photos I took along the way…

01
First up was a mission to a skate the Houghton Skatepark in Long Beach to film a Thunder Trucks promo video for their upcoming catalog. Joe Krolick is behind the camera.

Here is Joe working a dolly shot.

Jersey style.

04
This one looks pretty crazy and I’m pretty sure it’s a Mike V NBD. Just wait till you see the video.

05
Joe and Mike. It’s a wrap.

06
A couple of days later we were on our way down to San Diego for more ripping. Here is the obligatory “Nuclear Tits” photos on the 5 Freeway.

07
Our first stop of the day was Tony Hawk HQ. Here is the man himself with a hefty backside ollie.

13
Archie’s Ice Cream was on the scene. Here is Mike autographing the ice cream wagon.

14
After we departed from The Birdman’s lair we headed over to Kristian Svitak’s house to hangout and skate his mini ramp. Here is Kristian’s unwelcome mat at his front door.

Two Blender’s, a Gator and an Alf.

17
A John Lucero Street Thing and the ever crucial Mike V Powell Peralta deck.

23
After skating Kristian’s mini ramp we headed over to Melba Bishop Skatepark in Oceanside (Street Attack).

Here’s Mike V copping a feel on a concrete boob with a proper backside invert.

The Bars.

After the session at Melba Bishop, the sun was setting and it was time to head back to Long Beach.

  1. Nice images.

I’m always partial to a Jersey style FS Boneless. Love the classic Powell deck shot too.

I’ve always dug that graphic Mike.

Wow Kristian has some nice boards. I wonder what the thought process was when they made that Alf board. And how many times have you busted that elbow? Great photos.

  3. Mike V says:

The Alf board… who knows man… it’s a hot one. Svitak is a good guy and definitely has some rad boards. The elbow… It gets busted almost every time I ride…

  4. Mike V says:

Yea man… The elephant graphic is a classic… The last of the VCJ Powell Peralta pro models… a true honor.

  5. Drew Henry says:

Which Thunder trucks would you recomend mike?

  6. Mario says:

That board with the elephant graphic is awsome!…looks like you had a great time

  7. Mike V says:

I ride 147′s hi’s … because my board is around 8 inches and I ride between 52-54mm wheels… so it all depends on the width of your board and the height of your wheels… But beyond that… any set will do you right…

  8. Drew Henry says:

I only ride your boards anyway so I just wanted to know which sized trucks would go best with them. Thanks Mike!

  9. Mike V says:

    Cool Drew… Yea… 147 hi’s

  10. Much love – much love for this!

  11. Korey says:

i got a trick i call the urkel flip its a 180 boneless fingerflip
i just landed my first double the other day
thanks for keeping us stoked on old school tricks you rip!

  12. Mike V says:

Thanks Korey… I just started busting boneless fingerflips… Fun trick.

  13. Robert says:

Mike, I haven’t skated in ages and all these sizes and numbers have changed. I’m planning to get ur Element Pachyderm deck which is 7.875 x 31.75. The trucks I want to use come in 5.0 (7.75in.) or 5.25 (8in.). I noticed the majority of ur boards from Element are 7.875 x 31.75 and you say you ride 147s. I remember it was either 159mm or 169mm and I always got 159s. What size trucks do you recommend (since ur model is between 7.75 and 8)??? Thanks in advance.

  14. Mike V says:

Yea I ride 147′s… That’s what I would recommend but the best thing to do is go into a skateshop and size up the truck that works best for you.

  15. Robert says:

    Thanks for ur help V.
